Territory bodies (2021)
shadow violated with carbine relays, red earth
traces of action
Starting from different fields of violence involving conflicts over land or territories dominated by the militia and drug trafficking, I propose in Corpos-territorio to reflect on the gang rape of women as a recurrent, terrorist and genocidal strategy that aims to silence their voices while territorializes their bodies. Sexual rape as an exercise of power has also been recurrent in scenarios of war, armed conflicts and disputes for territorial control that reproduce the patriarchal model of the use of violence to legitimize the domination of the male subject. During the action I violate my shadow, projected on the wall, using carbines in relay. The red earth is then applied to silhouette the marks and also to symbolically silence the weapons as I pour the powder over them.
